Jan Warner

Jan Warner JAN L. WARNER received his A.B. and J.D. degrees from the University of South Carolina and earned a Master of Legal Letters (L.L.M.) in Taxation from the Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia.

He is a Certified Fellow of The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He belongs to the South Carolina Bar, the American Bar Association, and other legal organizations and associations.

He has been trained and qualified as a matrimonial arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is qualified to serve on both the commercial and family panels of the American Arbitration Association.  He is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court of South Carolina, and all South Carolina State Courts.

He conceived and co-authors Flying Solo®, a weekly column about divorce and other transitions, which has been distributed to newspapers throughout the United States by Knight-Ridder Tribune News Service since 1988 (www.flyingsolo.com) He also conceived and co-authors NextSteps®, a weekly newspaper column that deals with issues affecting the elderly and disabled that is syndicated nationally by United Features Syndicate. His practice is limited to matrimonial and family matters with an emphasis on complex litigation, especially involving seniors, estate and long-term care planning, premarital agreements, and estate-related litigation.
